The Texture Difference

Peshtemals are flat-woven from premium natural cotton. Without those bulky loops weaves like terry towels, they are incredibly lightweight and breathable. Rather than just soaking up water, the long fibers wick moisture away and evaporates it almost instantly.

Toxin-Free Peace of Mind

Because our towels meet the rigorous GOTS standards, they are free from the endocrine disruptors and harsh dyes found in conventional textiles. Wrap yourself in pure, breathable safety.

FAQ

Are they actually absorbent? They look so thin!

Yes. The long fibres of Turkish cotton allows the towel to wick water away from the body efficiently. While they feel different, they can hold a significant amount of water relative to their weight.

What is the difference between a 'Peshtemal' and a regular towel?

A peshtemal is a lightweight, flat-woven alternative using a traditional weave to traditional terry towels. Unlike thick, fluffy terry with looped fibres, peshtemals are smooth, quick-drying, and compact, becoming softer and more absorbent over time making them a practical, versatile option for everyday use, travel, or the beach.

Do they really get softer over time?

The cotton is long-staple, the fibres don't break as easily. With every wash, the "blooming" process makes the towel increasingly supple.

Is it actually sand-resistant?

A peshtemal is flat-woven and has no "loops" (like terry cloth), there is nowhere for sand to get trapped. A quick shake typically removes all debris, which is a major pain point for beachgoers.

What is the specific washing and care protocol?

The Instruction: To ensure the longevity and performance of your towel, follow these steps:

  • The Initial Soak: Before the very first wash, soak your peshtemal in cold water for 24 hours. This "opens" the cotton fibres and maximises absorbency.
  • The Wash: Machine wash on a gentle cycle (cold or warm, max 30°C). Wash with similar colors.
  • The Golden Rule: NEVER use fabric softeners. Softeners contain silicones that coat the cotton fibers, making them "waterproof" and significantly reducing absorbency.

Drying: Air drying is highly recommended to prevent shrinkage. If you must use a dryer, use the lowest heat setting and remove while still slightly damp.
